Backlog Review & Definition
Backlog = All work that has not been executed by its Key Risk Date.
What is Backlog?
Backlog, using this definition, represents the amount of un-assessed or un-endorsed risk that exists within a business.
The volume of this work can be measured by the count of activity - indicating how many risks exist in the business, or by a count of hours associated with the work’s execution - indicating the level of effort required to eliminate the risk.
Either can be used effectively but there is value in measuring both. Left unchecked, this can have a serious detrimental effect on the ability of equipment to perform its primary function and an organisation to meet it's business objectives and legislative obligations.
Why Choose Us?
SRCN Solutions helps organisations to assess and reduce backlog on their assets. To do this, a defined and consistent methodology is used to review the categorisation and risk assessment of the maintenance backlog to align it to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Offshore Energies UK Ltd (OEUK) guidance.
This facilitates the liquidation of existing backlog as well as ensuring all backlog is assessed with the risk to asset operations being fully understood.
A Typical Backlog Review
The outcome of this scope of work is a revised approach to appropriately assess the risk of outstanding corrective work and ensure the backlog is assessed to allow appropriate action to be taken.
The output of a backlog review is typically:
1Update Prioritisation
Updated prioritisation matrix to allow the re-assessment of corrective maintenance to articulated consequence should the work not be complete and the likelihood of the consequence to occur.
2Backlog Assessment
Develop a robust prioritisation approach that ensures critical tasks are tackled first whilst managing the risk of the other work.
3Recommendations
Recommendations on any updates for implementation of the organisation's Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
